Following on from the success of last year’s event, INTEC are pleased to be hosting the Fighting Fraud Event 2012. This year fraud has been brought to the forefront of everyone’s mind with the suggested implementation of SFIS. This has led to many authorities and housing associations looking into new areas of investigation within corporate fraud. The message has been loud and clear. Housing benefit Fraud is by no means the only type of fraud investigation your teams should be doing. |
You will have no doubt seen statements like these;
“It has been estimated that Tenancy Fraud costs the UK £5 billion a year with between 50,000 and 160,000 social homes currently being unlawfully occupied across the country”
“There is an estimated £2.4 billion lost each year to procurement fraud alone!”
“NFA estimates that around £334 million is lost in payroll fraud each year in the public sector”
INTEC continue to work with and support the organisations that are providing assistance with the transition towards the separation of localised and centralised fraud. We have continued to support LAIOG at regional events and are providing the same level of assistance for the TFF. NAFN is also a working partner with INTEC and we continue to develop their services further. By bringing together key people from LAIOG, NAFN, DCLG, CIH, NFA and Audit Commission we believe this will be the most comprehensive event of the year.
Some of the confirmed speakers include;
We are currently awaiting confirmations from DCLG and DWP, along with some further LA representatives from Oxford and Westminster.
This year’s event sees us move to Horwood House in Milton Keynes to allow delegates from all over the country to attend. The initial feedback is very positive and we are expecting a high number of delegates, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
We are looking to cover both high level and practical topics with focus on day one being around corporate fraud within a local authority and day two having more emphasis on housing fraud. We invite any organisation be it LA or HA to attend.
